Richard Morris

about the author

Richard Morris is a storyteller who excels at blending music and literature. As the lyricist behind bands like Drunk Mule, Sesame Jess, and The Fairweather Biker Gang, he developed his skill for creating narratives that are both memorable and impactful. This musical background naturally led to his debut novel, Silent Disco, a satirical work in free verse that examines modern life’s peculiarities.

In the Author’s Note, Morris shares:
“My hope is to bring a smile to your face whilst pausing for thought as I hold a mirror to the absurdities of modern life.”

This philosophy reflects his approach to writing, combining humor with thoughtful social observation. Originally conceived as a musical project, Silent Disco grew beyond its initial format to become a unique literary work that mixes poetry with narrative, balancing chaos with insight.

During the day, Morris works in medical research, which informs his keen observations of human behavior. At night, he transforms these insights into engaging, thought-provoking stories. “Silent Disco”, the first book in a planned trilogy, was inspired by the lockdown period, which Morris describes as revealing Earth’s brief, strange “healing” before returning to a world that became “even more bonkers than before.”

With Multiples of Three and The Quincy Strangers coming soon, Morris continues to challenge creative boundaries through both written words and song lyrics. His work encourages readers to laugh at life’s absurdities while recognizing their own reflections in them.
